Philadelphia picked off Jordan Love three times in a 22-10 win over the Packers and Los Angeles’ young pass rushers registered nine sacks on Sam Darnold in a 27-9 victory over Minnesota on Monday night.

Smothering defense
Los Angeles has won 10 of its past 13 games after their dominant 27-9 victory over the Vikings. Matthew Stafford passed for 209 yards and 2 TDs, but the team’s young defense was the story. Chris Shula’s unit sacked Sam Darnold nine times, forcing him into an interception and a fumble that was returned for a touchdown by rookie Pro Bowler Jared Verse.
After snuffing out Minnesota’s passing game, Sean McVay will have to come up with a completely different game plan against the Eagles. Saquon Barkley set a new franchise record with 255 rushing yards in a 37-20 win over the Rams in Week 12.
Jared Verse reached a top speed of 19.88 mph, the fastest speed reached by a 260+ pound ball carrier over the last seven seasons (since 2018).

Jalen Hurts returns
Jalen Hurts looked rusty in his return from a concussion, going almost two full quarters without completing a pass against Green Bay. Luckily, Saquon Barkley was his dominant self (119 rushing yards) and Philadelphia’s defense intercepted Jordan Love on three occasions.
Vic Fangio is credited with creating the defensive blueprint that Bill Belichick used to stop Sean McVay’s explosive Rams passing attack in Super Bowl 53. Thanks to the veteran defensive coordinator, the Eagles allowed opponents to score the fewest points per game (17.4) in the NFL this season.
Philadelphia vs Los Angeles
Philadelphia is a 5.5-point home favorite at Lincoln Financial Field, where they are 9-1 in the regular season and playoffs combined. The over/under is set at just 43.5 points after both teams’ defenses excelled on Wild Card Weekend. The Eagles are averaging the second-most rushing yards per game (178.7) and the Rams run defense ranks in the bottom-half of the league.
Los Angeles ranks #11 in passing offense (226.1 YPG), but Vic Fangio’s defense is limiting opponents to the fewest yards per game (175.2) through the air. With defensive tackle Jalen Carter and linebacker Zack Baun shutting down the middle of the field, Philly also has a top-ten run defense.

While Sean McVay has the most brilliant offensive mind in the NFL, Vic Fangio’s defenses have been his kryptonite. The Eagles’ strength on the offensive and defensive lines also give them a big advantage on both sides of the ball.
