Mahomes tops Allen again
Patrick Mahomes executed his sixth fourth-quarter comeback of his playoff career to lead his team to a 32-29 victory over Buffalo. Mahomes passed for 245 yards and a touchdown while running for 43 yards and two more scores. Chris Jones and the Chiefs defense stuffed Josh Allen on three QB sneaks and generated pressure on 45.9% of his dropbacks.
Kansas City will play in its fifth Super Bowl in the past six years. After earning his 17th playoff victory in 20 starts, the 29-year-old Mahomes only trails Tom Brady (35) in postseason wins and Super Bowl appearances (9).

Saquon runs wild
Saquon Barkley busted off a 60-yard touchdown run on Philadelphia’s first play from scrimmage in a 55-23 beatdown of the Commanders. Barkley finished with 118 yards and three scores, and A.J. Brown added 96 receiving yards and a TD. The game was never close thanks to three costly Washington fumbles.
With their three postseason victories, Nick Sirianni’s club has now won 15 of their past 16 games. While the Eagles are 1.5-point underdogs to KC, underdogs have claimed three of the past four Super Bowls and are 10-7 outright since 2007.
Philadelphia vs Kansas City
Kansas City is a 1.5-point favorite over Philadelphia in Super Bowl 59 and the over/under is set at 49.5 points. While these two franchises combined for 73 points two years ago, the Eagles and Chiefs had two of the best defenses in the NFL in 2024. Vic Fangio’s unit was #1 in points allowed (17.9) in the regular season, limiting opponents to 184.9 passing yards per game (#2).
Steve Spagnuolo’s D finished #4 in points allowed (19.4) and #9 in rushing yards allowed (106.7) per contest. However, James Cook piled up 85 yards and 2 TDs on 13 rushes in the AFC Championship Game.

Keys to the Game
KC’s run defense will have to tighten up against Barkley, who led the league with 2,005 rushing yards and has 5 TDs in his past two games alone.
Jalen Carter and the Eagles defense will need to generate pressure on Mahomes, who suffered 36 sacks during the regular season (the most of his career) and another 5 in two postseason games.
Best Bet
While the Chiefs’ three-peat almost feels inevitable at this point, Philadelphia has been the better team all season. It’s difficult to pick Jalen Hurts over Patrick Mahomes, but Vic Fangio’s defense should be able to slow down a KC offense that’s struggled for most of the year.
