Buffalo’s win streak ends
Despite becoming the first player in NFL history to throw three touchdowns and run for three touchdowns in the same game, Josh Allen took the ‘L’ on Sunday. Sean McDermott’s defense allowed scores on six of nine possessions as the Rams carved them up for 457 total yards in a 44-42 win. Buffalo’s league-leading 14-game streak with at least one takeaway also came to an end.
While Allen’s performance bolstered his NFL MVP candidacy (-425), the defeat dashed any hope the Bills had of catching the Chiefs for the No. 1 seed in the AFC.

Lions prevail over Packers
Detroit survived a Jared Goff interception and an overly-aggressive Dan Campbell coaching decision to down Green Bay 34-31 on Thursday night. Goff passed for 283 yards and 3 TDs in the victory, finding Tim Patrick in the endzone twice.
Dan Campbell’s biggest concern has to be defensive injuries. In addition to Aidan Hutchinson, in Week 14 the Lions were missing Joshua Paschal, Levi Onwuzurike and D.J. Reader before losing their best remaining defensive linemen, Alim McNeill, to a head injury. Now, Josh Allen comes to the Motor City.
Detroit vs Buffalo
Detroit is a 1.5-point home favorite at Ford Field and the over/under of 54.5 points is easily the highest on the Week 15 slate. The Lions (32.1 PPG) and Bills (30.5 PPG) are the top two scoring offenses in the NFL. With a two-headed monster of Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery, Ben Johnson presides over the league’s #4 rushing attack (151.1 YPG) and #4 passing game (243.8 YPG). Buffalo is equally balanced, ranking #11 in rushing (125.7 YPG) and #12 in passing (229.3 YPG).
Aaron Glenn’s defense is permitting the second-fewest PPG (18.0) despite a litany of injuries, and Sean McDermott’s D still ranks #8 (20.6 PPG) after allowing the Rams to rack up 44 points in Week 14. Throughout the year, the Lions defense has been more vulnerable through the air while Buffalo’s is worse stopping the run.

Best Bet
While they’re unbeaten at home, Buffalo has a mediocre 4-3 road record and could be gassed after their 88-point shootout with the Rams. With 10 days rest following their Thursday night win over the Packers, we like Dan Campbell’s Lions to cover at home (-1.5) with the UNDER 54.5 points.
