Thanksgiving spoiled
Jared Goff fumbled three times in a 29-22 loss to the division-rival Packers on Thursday as the Lions lost their seventh-straight Thanksgiving Day game. While his team leads the NFC North with an 8-3 record, Dan Campbell has a lot to be concerned about. His veteran QB has six turnovers over the past two games and his defense was gobbled up by Jordan Love, who passed for 268 yards and three touchdowns.
With a tough final stretch that includes two matchups with the Vikings and battles with the Broncos and Cowboys, Detroit must get back on track against a Saints team that has lost two-straight.

Carr’s red zone struggles
New Orleans was 0 for 5 in the red zone with two turnovers inside the Falcons’ 10-yard line in Sunday’s 24-15 loss to their division rivals. Derek Carr tossed a game-changing 92-yard pick-six to Jessie Bates in the first quarter. The veteran signal-caller hasn’t thrown a touchdown since November 5th.
Four-time Pro Bowl cornerback Marshon Lattimore was placed on injured reserve with an ankle injury and will miss the game with the Lions. Even at 5-6, the Saints are still in the mix for the NFC South crown with 5-6 Atlanta and 4-7 Tampa Bay.
New Orleans vs Detroit
New Orleans is a 3.5-point home underdog at the Caesars Superdome on Sunday and the over/under is set as 45.5 points. The Lions are the NFL’s seventh-highest scoring team, averaging 26.7 points per game. They rank No. 3 in passing yards (268.5) and No. 6 in rushing (136.9) thanks to a dynamic two-headed attack featuring rookie Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery.
Dennis Allen’s club ranks middle of the pack in scoring (20.8 points per game) and rushing yards (104.4) and sit just outside the top ten in passing yards per game (242.7).

Lions to pound the rock?
The Saints are giving up the 10th-most rushing yards per game (124.0) and Dan Campbell will be dying to run the ball to take the pressure off Jared Goff.
However, Lions’ opponents are averaging 29 points per game over the past five weeks. Derek Carr will need to convert early red-zone opportunities to keep Detroit out of their preferred run-heavy game script.
Best Bet
Detroit is coming off 10 days rest after not playing since Thanksgiving. But their defense hasn’t been able to stop anyone in recent weeks and Goff traditionally struggles on the road.
We like the Saints to cover (+3.5) and maybe even win outright (+165) at home with the UNDER 45.5.
