Mahomes does it again
Patrick Mahomes completed 30 of 39 passes for 241 yards and a touchdown in a 17-10 AFC Championship win over the favored Ravens. After improving his all-time postseason record to 14-3, Mahomes will become the youngest QB to start his fourth Super Bowl. The 28-year-old has thrown 11 TD passes and no interceptions in his past six playoff games.
With a win in Las Vegas on February 11, Kansas City would become the NFL’s first back-to-back champions since the 2003-04 New England Patriots. With his fifth appearance in the big game, Andy Reid only trails Bill Belichick (9) and Don Shula (6) in Super Bowl appearances.

Niners escape with a win
Kyle Shanahan is looking to avenge a 31-20 loss to KC in Super Bowl 54. The Niners franchise hasn’t won a title in 29 years despite playing in seven NFC Championship Games since 2011. While San Francisco has been snakebit of late, their luck has certainly turned around this postseason.
After escaping the divisional round with an unlikely 24-21 victory over Green Bay, the 49ers scored a 17-point comeback win over Detroit in the NFC Championship. Brock Purdy passed for 267 yards, a TD and an INT while scrambling for 48 yards and three key first downs.
Kansas City vs San Francisco
San Francisco is a 1-point favorite in Super Bowl 58 with the over-under set at 47.5 points. These two teams combined for 51 points four years ago. Their only other meeting was back in October 2022. A 44-23 Chiefs victory in which Mahomes passed for 423 yards and three scores.
Steve Spagnuolo’s defense has held four of their last five opponents to 17 points or less. Meanwhile, Steve Wilks’ unit has struggled this postseason, forcing the 49ers into comeback mode against both the Packers and Lions.

Super Bowl 58 matchup notes
Mahomes can become only the fifth QB in NFL history with at least three Super Bowl rings. Key to his success has been his connection with Travis Kelce. After a down season, the 34-year-old tight end has caught 16 of 17 targets for 191 yards and three TDs this postseason.
Purdy is nowhere near Mahomes’ level, but he has demonstrated poise in authoring consecutive comebacks. Mr. Irrelevant now has a 21-5 career record as a starter. As usual, he’ll rely heavily on superstar weapons such as George Kittle, Brandon Aiyuk and Christian McCaffrey, who had 132 combined yards and 2 TDs versus Detroit.
Best Bet
Kansas City is an underdog for the third-straight game, yet they have the best coach, quarterback and defense in the Super Bowl. We’ll take the Chiefs to win (-104) with the OVER 47.5.
