Think you know how the upcoming NFL season will play out? Guess again if you’re picking all the favorites. Six new playoff teams emerged last year and only half of the eight division winners in 2022 repeated in 2023. It was the same story between 2021 and 2022 with four new division champs and seven new clubs making the postseason. That’s half the field!
Which underdogs will emerge this season? Starting with the NFC East, we’ll examine the odds and make our picks in all four divisions. Before diving in, check out the best Super Bowl betting tips and the top betting sites for NFL football in 2024.

Dallas Cowboys | +180 | +180 | +180 |
Washington Commanders | +1000 | +1000 | +1000 |

Eagles or Cowboys?
Twenty years have passed since the NFC East saw its last repeat champion (Eagles 2003-2004). Philadelphia (-145) closed last season with losses in five of its last seven games and star quarterback Jalen Hurts is reportedly feuding with head coach Nick Sirianni. Both Washington (+1000) and New York (+1400) have exciting rookies turning heads in training camp, but Jayden Daniels and Malik Nabers aren’t miracle workers.
That leaves last year’s division champion in Dallas (+180). They’re dealing with CeeDee Lamb’s contract holdout and face the prospect of a Dak Prescott exit next offseason. While Jerry Jones has a mess on his wrinkly old hands, the Cowboys are still the best bet in the division.

San Francisco 49ers | -175 | -175 | -175 |
Los Angeles Rams | +325 | +325 | +325 |
Seattle Seahawks | +550 | +550 | +550 |
Arizona Cardinals | +1200 | +1200 | +1200 |
Rams to overtake 49ers
San Francisco (-175) is coming off its second Super Bowl defeat to Kansas City in five seasons. After dropping Super Bowl 54, the Niners finished 6-10 in 2020. While a losing record is unlikely for Kyle Shanahan’s squad, stranger things have happened in the National Football League.
Mike McDaniel’s arrival in Seattle (+550) has us bullish on the Seahawks’ OVER 7.5 wins. And Arizona (+1200) is headed in the right direction with a healthy Kyler Murray and No. 4 overall pick Marvin Harrison Jr. However, Los Angeles (+325) is our pick in the NFC West. With a healthy Cooper Kupp and Blake Corum added to Sean McVay’s always dangerous attack, Matthew Stafford should put plenty of points on the board.

Detroit Lions | +125 | +125 | +125 |
Green Bay Packers | +210 | +210 | +210 |
Chicago Bears | +300 | +300 | +300 |
Minnesota Vikings | +800 | +800 | +800 |
Packers to declaw Lions
After winning its first division title in 30 years, Detroit (+125) is favored to repeat in the NFC North. Loaded with offensive firepower such as Jahmyr Gibbs, Amon-Ra St. Brown and Sam LaPorta, the Lions don’t have much on defense after Aidan Hutchinson. Dan Campbell’s club also has to deal with a much-improved Bears (+300) team with No. 1 overall pick Caleb Williams and No. 9 overall pick Rome Odunze.
While Minnesota (+800) can safely be counted out with J.J. McCarthy on the shelf for the season, Green Bay (+210) looks especially dangerous. With a full cupboard of talented receivers and free-agent RB Josh Jacobs, Jordan Love will lead the Packers to the NFC North crown.

Atlanta Falcons | -135 | -135 | -135 |
Tampa Bay Buccaneers | +310 | +310 | +310 |
New Orleans Saints | +350 | +350 | +350 |
Carolina Panthers | +1100 | +1100 | +1100 |
Bucs aim for 4th-straight division title
Atlanta (-135) is a popular pick to win its first division title since 2016. The Falcons have a new head coach (Raheem Morris) and new starting QB (Kirk Cousins), and they recently shored up their defense with edge rusher Matthew Judon and safety Justin Simmons. But things could get weird in a hurry with No. 8 overall pick Michael Penix Jr. waiting on the bench.
New Orleans (+350) has an aging roster and a perennial failure in Derek Carr, and Carolina (+1100) has disappointing No. 1 overall pick Bryce Young dragging their offense down. However, don’t be too quick to dismiss a Tampa Bay (+310) club that’s won three-straight NFC East titles. As the division’s only competently run franchise, the Buccaneers are being slept on yet again.
