The Pittsburgh Penguins have a season record of 23-25-9. They are seventh in the Metropolitan Division with 55 points from 57 matches.
The Penguins’ goal differential is -37. Mike Sullivan’s team has conceded 201 goals, the most of any team in the Eastern Conference and the second-worst in the NHL.
The Washington Capitals’ overall record is 36-11-8. Their goal differential is +56, the highest in the Eastern Conference.
Spencer Carbery’s team has 80 points from 55 matches and sits top of the Metropolitan Division. The Capitals have a 10-point lead over second-placed Carolina.
Saturday’s fixture will be the third time the two teams have met this season.
The previous two meetings have been at Washington’s Capital One Arena home rink. The Penguins won the first match 4-2 in early November, with the Capitals gaining revenge with a 4-1 win in January.
Now, let’s take a look at the latest match betting.
Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Washington Capitals match betting.
Spencer Carberry’s team is on the road. But with a 25-point gap between the two teams, it’s no major surprise to see the Capitals are the betting favorite to win.
Washington is -150 to win on the money line. The Penguins are +125 to win and shock the whole of the NHL.
The Penguins are -205 to win with a +1.5-point start on the handicap. Washington is +170 to win and cover the spread.

Pittsburgh Penguins
In their last ten matches, Mike Sullivan’s team has a 4-5-1 record.
Pittsburgh’s results showed signs of improvement in the lead-up to the break for the 4 Nations Face-Off. A 3-2 overtime win at Utah ended a three-match losing skid at the end of January.
The Penguins backed that up by defeating the Predators 3-0 in their next outing. They then lost a home shootout against the Devils in their next match but instantly bounced back with a 3-2 win away at the Rangers.
But their last match before the midseason break was a real kick in the teeth. Mike Sullivan’s team was on the wrong side of a 3-2 scoreline against the Flyers. The result meant the Flyers went level on points with Pittsburgh at the bottom of the Metropolitan.
The Penguins are +75000 to win the division – I think we can safely say that isn’t going to happen. Pittsburgh is +15000 to win the Eastern Conference and +30000 to win the Stanley Cup.
The Penguins host the Rangers at the PPG Paints Arena on Sunday in their following match.
Washington Capitals
Washington has a ten-match record of 6-3-1. The team’s form was a bit up and down in the lead-up to the midseason break.
The Capitals began February with a 5-4 overtime defeat at home to the Jets.
Back-to-back wins over the Panthers (6-3 at home), and the Flyers (4-3 on the road) followed, but the revival was short-lived, as Washington lost their final game before the break against Utah in a shootout.
Carbery’s team is winning enough games to maintain their lead at the top of the Metropolitan Division.
They do look slightly off the pace they were setting earlier in the season, although it would have been near on impossible to keep that form going for the whole of the regular season run-in.
The Capitals are -850 to win the Metropolitan Division. The Carolina Hurricanes are the only other team in the picture at +600.
Washington is the +500 third favorite to win the Eastern Conference and +1000 to win the Stanley Cup.
Following their trip to Pittsburgh, the Capitals will return to Washington for a huge clash against the Oilers on Sunday.
Penguins vs. Capitals Betting Picks and Predictions
The Pittsburgh Penguins are 13-10-4 at home and the Washington Capitals are 19-7-2 on the road.
The Capitals take on the Oilers on Sunday. That won’t be easy, and there is every chance that Edmonton might leave D.C. with the win.
This means that Washington has to beat Pittsburgh. If they don’t, they may find themselves on a three-match losing skid.
Washington is -150 to win on the money line. It’s just about good enough to back and is our betting pick.
