The USA will begin their 4 Nations Face-Off campaign against Finland in Montreal on Thursday.
America will take on Canada in their second match on Saturday, so they already know they can’t afford any slips in their opening match.
Finland will go into the fixture as the underdogs. But they know this is their best chance of catching the Americans cold and pulling off a shock win.
The Bell Centre in Montreal is hosting. This is the venue’s second of four matches before the competition moves to TD Garden in Boston.
Before we look at the teams, let’s take a look at the latest match betting and also some of the best props bets on the showdown.
USA vs. Finland match betting
With such a star-studded line up it’s no surprise to see the best NHL betting sites favor a win for the USA.
Mike Sullivan’s team is -345 to win on the money line, with Antti Pennanen’s Finland team at +270.
Finland is also receiving a 1.5-point start on the handicap spread. To win with the spread, the Finns are +100. The USA is -120 to win and cover the 1.5-point handicap.

Moving onto the props bets, the USA trio of Kyle Connor, Jack Hughes, and Auston Matthews are all +160 to score anytime and all +800 to score first.
Mikko Rantanen is the shortest-priced Fin in the betting. Rantanen is +280 to score anytime and +1400 to score first.
His compatriots, Sebastian Aho and Roope Hintz are both +325 to score anytime and +1700 to score first.
USA
The USA team suffered a huge blow when Quinn Hughes pulled out of the competition. His place has gone to Jake Sanderson of the Ottawa Senators.
Quinn Hughes is officially out of the 4 Nations.
Was an agonizing decision for him. Badly wanted to play, but Canucks need him for race to playoffs.

Hughes is widely regarded as being the best defenceman in the NHL this season. He has scored 14 goals and 57 points for the Canucks.
Team USA still has plenty of quality to call upon. Goaltender Connor Hellebuyck is having an outstanding season with 34 wins and a save percentage of .925.
They can also call upon Kyle Connor, with 30 goals and 69 points, and Jack Eichel with 19 goals and 69 points, two of the top scorers in the NHL.
The USA will face Canada in their second match on Saturday and Sweden in their third match on Monday, February 17th.
Team USA is the second favorite to win the competition at +160 with Bovada and BetOnline.
Although elsewhere, BetUS has broken ranks and installed Mike Sullivan’s team as their betting favorite ahead of Canada, who they price at +170.
Finland
Finland is also without one of the main defensemen, as Miro Heiskanen underwent knee surgery earlier in the month.
Antti Pennanen’s team does have quality within its ranks. Look no further than Mikko Rantanen if you need proof.
Rantanen is one of the top scorers in the NHL. The forward has 26 goals and 56 points in his 55 matches for the Carolina Hurricanes this season.
The problem Pennanen has is squad depth. Finland’s next best is Sebastian Aho – also of the Carolina Hurricanes. The 27-year-old Centre has 20 goals and 55 points from his 55 games this season.
But it would be very foolish to write the Finns off. They may be the +900 fourth-favorite to win the competition, but they also may have a shock win in them somewhere.
Following their opener against the US, Finland will face Sweden on Saturday and Canada on Monday.
USA vs. Finland Betting Picks and Predictions
There is no team form to speak of, just individual form to go by for our betting picks.
Looking at the squads, it’s no surprise that Team USA is the favorite to win. There is no real point backing them to win at -345 on the money line. So our first betting pick is for the USA to win and cover the spread at -120.
We are also naming a props bet. Kyle Connor has been in great form for the Winnipeg Jets this season. His 69 points have helped propel his franchise team to the top of the Western Conference with a goal differential of +68.
So our second betting pick is for Kyle Connor to score anytime at +160.
