Biden still favored
Joe Biden (-120) is the favorite to be the Democratic nominee despite the questions around his physical and mental capacity. Five House Democrats have called on the President to drop his re-election campaign. However, the 81-year-old said only the “Lord Almighty” could convince him to.
“I am running and going to win again,” said Biden at a recent rally in Wisconsin. He also told ABC News that his poor debate showing was the result of exhaustion and a “bad cold”, saying “I don’t think anybody’s more qualified to be president or win this race than me.”

Call on Kamala Harris?
Kamala Harris (+170) is the obvious replacement for Biden. Democratic U.S. Representative Adam Schiff told NBC News on Sunday that the Vice President could win “overwhelmingly” against former President Donald Trump. He also added, “Either Biden has to win overwhelmingly, or he has to pass the torch to someone who can.”
Seven senior Democratic sources told Reuters that the 59-year-old is said to be the “top alternative”. The sources also said that Harris would take over money raised by the Biden campaign and inherit campaign infrastructure.
Big names in the mix
Gavin Newsom (+1200), the Democratic governor from California, had a primetime debate with Florida’s Republican governor Ron DeSantis last year. The handsome 56-year-old used to be viewed as a 2028 candidate, and has always stood by the President.
Michelle Obama (+1200) is the only person who could beat Trump in November, according to a Reuters IPSOS poll released last week. However, the former first lady has remained adamant that she has no presidential aspirations.

Best Bet
Democratic governors like Michigan’s Gretchen Whitmer (+2000), Pennsylvania’s Josh Shapiro (+8000), and Illinois’ J.B. Pritzker (+10000) have all been name-dropped as replacements over the past week. But none of them have the name recognition of Kamala Harris (+170).
Still, the smart money is on Joe Biden (-120) to remain on the Democratic ticket because there’s no formal mechanism to replace him as the nominee, and he would have to agree to step aside.
