Setting the ground rules
Harris and Trump’s first in-person debate will be 90 minutes in length. ABC World News Tonight anchor David Muir and Prime host Linsey Davis will ask the questions and microphones will only be live for the person whose turn it is to speak. Each candidate will have two minutes to answer, followed by a two-minute rebuttal and additional minute for a follow-up.
These are the same parameters as the infamous June debate between Trump and Biden, which essentially knocked the 81-year-old Democrat out of the race. While ‘muting’ mics will help Harris not be interrupted by the former president, it will also help Trump’s lies slip through without being fact-checked.
Rev. Sharpton: I don’t think Trump wants to debate Kamala Harris. He’s a political coward. There’s no doubt about it. It’s the prosecutor vs. the felon pic.twitter.com/EJ9sliSZzh

Harris vs Trump
Oddsmakers say the winner will be determined by the first poll published by ABC News or fivethirtyeight.com following Tuesday’s debate. While you would think the prosecutor would have a big advantage over a convicted felon, both these candidates will be delivering their messages to a deeply divided country.
Even if you think she’ll perform better on the big stage, it’s hard to take the favorite Kamala Harris (-220) over underdog Donald Trump (+165) when you know half the nation already has their mind made up. This is a stay away.

Pennsylvania or California?
Which state will be mentioned first by either of the candidates? As perhaps the most important swing state, Pennsylvania (-110) would seemingly have the edge in a debate in Philadelphia. However, we don’t know which question will be asked first, or what candidate will lead off. For instance, if Trump has first crack at the microphone, there’s an excellent chance he’ll use it to attack Harris’ record as California (-110) attorney general.

Blue is favored
While it might seem sexist to discuss odds on Harris’ outfit and not Trump’s, the former president is at -1200 to wear a red tie, so there simply isn’t much to write about on that one. Harris rocked a power tan suit on night one of the Democratic National Convention and accepted her party’s nomination a few nights later in a navy Chloé pantsuit.
Blue (-200) and Black (+350) are the favorites, but Silver/Grey (+1200) isn’t a bad bet.
