Tuipuloto’s shock return
Looking for their first fully-fledged Super Rugby title in 21 years, the Blues will get to host the final at a sold-out Eden Park on Saturday thanks to the top-seeded Hurricanes losing in the semi-finals.
Patrick Tuipulotu was expected to be out for seven weeks after injuring his knee in the quarter-finals against Fijian Drua two weeks ago. However, the Blues captain was cleared to play on Tuesday after testing his knee in practice.

Chiefs injury concerns
The Chiefs are looking to secure their first championship since winning back-to-back titles in 2012 and 2013. Based in Hamilton, the team knocked off the No. 1 seed Hurricanes in a semi-final thriller. After getting their first road win in the Super Rugby playoffs in five tries, can they do it again?
Unfortunately, All Blacks hooker Samisoni Taukei’aho was lost to a leg injury last week. Head coach Clayton McMillan named a surprise replacement in third-string hooker Tyrone Thompson. The good news for the Chiefs is that All Blacks flyer Shaun Stevenson will return from a a hamstring injury after being a late scratch ahead of the semi-finals.
Blues vs Chiefs
The Blues are -5.5 point home favorites and -218 to win straight up, while the Chiefs are +178 on the money line. Oddsmakers have set the over/under at 48.5 total points.
Vern Cotter’s club defeated the Chiefs 31-17 just three weeks ago in the last round of the regular season. Additionally, the Blues have only lost four of their last 36 matches at Eden Park, and all those were to the Crusaders.

Best Bet
We favor the UNDER 48.5 (-115) as only one Super Rugby Pacific Grand Final in the last seven years has exceed that point total. We also like the Auckland Blues to cover (-5.5), returning the franchise to glory with their first championship in two decades.
