- How to Watch: NBC, Peacock
The 2025 edition of the Six Nations Rugby Championship is nearly upon us. The international rugby tournament, which was first played in 1883 as the Home Nations Championship, kicks off on January 31 and ends on March 15, 2025. In 1910, the event was renamed the Five Nations Championship. It picked up the Six Nations title in 2000. England has the most wins in the history of the event with 29, while France is second all-time with 18 victories.
Ireland enters the 2025 Six Nations Championship as the two-time defending champions. Before Ireland went back-to-back, the last team to win two Six Nations titles in a row was England in 2016-17. No team has won three straight Six Nations Championships. The last time a team won more than three titles in a row was during the Five Nations era, with France winning four in a row between 1986 and 1989.
The following countries participate in the Six Nations Rugby Championship: England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland, and Wales.

Ireland betting breakdown
There is a lot of pressure on the Irish team heading into the 2025 Six Nations tournament. The team has won two titles in a row twice since the inception of the Six Nations event, but never three. Despite that fact, and that no team has won three in a row since six squads have competed, Ireland is the betting favorite to come out on top in 2025.
Ireland has an interim head coach this year in Simon Easterby, with Andy Farrell on sabbatical so that he can coach the British & Irish Lions.
In addition, the team will be without Tom O’Toole for the first two games of the Six Nations event as he serves a suspension and they will be missing Craig Casey as he recovers from knee surgery.
The Irish team looked good, but not great, in international play in November, beating Australia (22-19), Fiji (52-17), and Argentina (22-19), but losing to New Zealand (23-13).
France betting breakdown
France ended a long winless run with a victory at the 2022 Six Nations, coming out on top for the first time since 2010. In 2023 the team went 4-0-1, while going 3-1-1 in 2024. France has five Six Nations Championships.
France has some injuries heading into the event, but the team is deep, and those injuries should not be a major concern for France’s head coach, Fabien Galthie, outside of Charles Ollivon and Gael Fickou missing on defense.
The French team had a good run in international play in November with wins over Japan (52-12), New Zealand (30-29), Argentina (37-23)
England betting breakdown
No team has won more Six Nations Championships than England with seven. However, the team has not won this event since 2020. In 2024 they wrapped up the Six Nations with a 3-0-2 record for 14 points and third place.
England was not very consistent last year in this event, and they found themselves in challenging games with teams they should have beaten more handily in Wales (16-14) and Italy (27-24). On the bright side, the English team beat Ireland in 2024 by a score of 23-22. The team’s losses came to Scotland (30-21) and France (33-31). The 2025 squad does not have injuries to key players, and that’s good because team depth is a worry for England this year, as they are without Immanuel Feyi-Waboso, George Furbank, and Max Malins.
Best bets to win 2025 Six Nations Championship
The 2025 Six Nations Championship should come down to Ireland and France. While Ireland is the better team, they are not as healthy as France. With that, the betting pick is for France to win the 2025 Six Nations Championship.
