Arsenal vs Man City Prediction: Who do Bettors Favor?

Arsenal are the favorites, but not by much. The Gunners are (+110) to get the win at Emirates Stadium this Sunday. Man City are underdogs at (+265), a position they are becoming more and more accustomed to. A draw pays out at (+270), which would represent a repeat of the reverse fixture.

Arsenal Slipping Out of Title Race in Premier League

Will it be another trophyless season for Arsenal? That is what many Gooners are wondering after Liverpool continues to pick up victories. The Reds now boast a six-point lead with a game in hand to boot. One more loss could be the nail in the coffin for Arsenal’s title hopes after many tabbing this year as the one they would finally hoist the elusive Premier League trophy/

Arsenal supporters were particularly frustrated with the decision of Michael Oliver to give Myles Lewis-Skelly a straight red card in their match with Wolves last week. Ultimately, Arsenal managed to win the match short-handed, but a pattern has arisen with Oliver and his involvement in Arsenal matches.

Arsenal’s biggest knock heading into 2025 is their ability to score from open play. The club is known for their expertise in set pieces, thanks to their animated, dedicated coach often seen on the sidelines. I would argue this open-play critique is unwarranted, but the point is moot. Arsenal do indeed need a high-quality striker, as manager Mikel Arteta has plainly stated in recent interviews.

So it should come to a surprise to no one that Arsenal have been on the hunt for a striker as the January transfer window nears. But their current target may light up eyes, as Evan Ferguson appears to be in Arsenal’s sights. The 20-year-old forward rarely starts for Brighton when he is fit, and he rarely is. There are some hindrances to this deal taking place, however: Ferguson wants playing time and Arsenal cannot take on another loanee per regulations, so concessions would have to be made if the Gunners want their man in north London.

Man City Yet to Receive FFP Verdict Amidst Rocky Season

After a pitiful November and December saw Man City effectively ruled out of the title picture, many turned their attention away from Pep Guardiola’s side. But City has quietly run off a six-match unbeaten streak in England post-Christmas. In fact, their only blip was the messy loss to PSG in the Champions League last week. That defeat puts them in a bit of a bind heading into the final matchday of the league phase, where they must win to advance.

To make matters worse, their UCL match with Club Brugge is succeeded by the fixture against Arsenal, along with Newcastle, Liverpool and Nottingham Forest, all before St. Patrick’s Day. All of those clubs are in the top 5 of the Premier League and the boogeyman that once was “second-half of the season Man City” has lost its mystique. But the club cannot afford to dip too far down the table, as European qualification is at stake. Not only is there significant financial reward in playing in those elite continental tournaments, but also a strong desire for players to compete in them.

If City loses some of its talent in the offseason, they will only have themselves to blame. Guardiola appears to be committed to rebuilding in Manchester, but it remains to be seen just how big the project will be. Rumblings of potential expulsion due to breach of financial fair play regulations were initially mentioned when City was charged with 115 violations. While such a punishment would be extreme, there is no doubt many jealous fans would enjoy seeing Man City take one on the chin for the first time in a while.

Arsenal vs Man City Prediction: Free Man City Betting Pick

Arsenal has consistently proved they have one of the best defenses in the world. They blanked Wolves on the road despite going down a man early. In 2025, Arsenal are holding their visitors to just 9 goals through 11 home games. Manchester City’s away offense is 29% better than the average EPL team according to my ratings. That is a good number but a far cry from their championship days.

My calculations believe Arsenal should be (-161) favorites here, so there is plenty of value on them at plus-money. The Gunners dominated the first half of the reverse fixture, and only gave up the draw after a very late equalizer despite being short-handed for the second half. This is Arsenal’s game to lose.

Whether you go with the moneyline straight up or pay a little juice for the quarter goal is up to you, but go with the hosts this weekend. I took Arsenal -0.25 at (-122) at Bovada, and recommend you do the same. An added sweetener: City are playing a must-win game against Club Brugge midweek, while Arsenal have already clinched their spot in the Champions League knockout stages. Expect them to be more rested with a rotated squad playing midweek.
