Brentford vs Liverpool Prediction: Who do Sportsbooks Favor?

The leading title favorites Liverpool are unsurprisingly odds-on favorites to get back to winning ways this weekend. The Reds are priced at (-193) to get the victory on the road. Brentford are (+470) to improve their record to an even .500. A draw, which occurred in each of the two involved clubs’ last matches, pays out at (+420).

Brentford’s Focus Entirely on EPL After Shocking Cup Exit

Brentford have been the league’s most exciting team to watch this season. After a record-breaking streak of goals in the first few minutes of play, Brentford went on a run to crack into the top 10. But defeats to Newcastle and Plymouth Argyle in the League Cup and FA Cup have tempered fans expectations significantly. Now, Brentford’s lone remaining competition is England’s top flight.

After getting blanked by Nottingham Forest and Brighton during their post-cup hangover period, Brentford came alive against Southampton. The Bees punished the relegation candidates to the tune of 5 goals, a league success they parlayed into a 2-2 draw against defending champions Man City. The result was enough for City star Phil Foden to admit City’s hopes of retaining their title were gone.

Brentford’s firepower does not come without sacrifice, however. The club is yet to keep a single clean sheet at home this season. They have also conceded the second-most goals outside of the 3 teams facing relegation (Wolves, Leicester City and Southampton). And in order to keep their offensive production, they will likely have to fend off many suitors looking to poach their stars.

Bryan Mbeumo has been one of those main targets this winter. The Brentford start forward has been linked to moves away from West London, including Arsenal and Man United. The Bees have a trick up their sleeve, however, as a 12-month club extension is written into Mbeumo’s contract should he elect to pursue a more lucrative deal. Brentford boss Thomas Frank recently insisted the Cameroonian isn’t going anywhere.

Liverpool Inching Towards EPL Championship

What a season it has been for Reds supporters. The club has over-achieved expectations with a stronghold of the top spot in the Premier League for months running now. It certainly helps that Manchester City are suffering their worst term in nearly a decade, but Liverpool’s current pace would be more than enough to win a title in most seasons. The club’s only real threat is internal, as the January transfer window has linked many of their stars with moves elsewhere.

Indeed, the likes of Mo Salah and Darwin Nunez have been mentioned as possible sales by Liverpool. News of Nunez’s potential departure is less surprising – the Argentine striker has failed to make a difference at Liverpool throughout his two and a half seasons with the club. After Diogo Jota sustained a rib injury earlier this season, Slot gave Nunez the chance to prove himself up top. But poor finishing and continuous offsides errors quickly relegated the striker back to the bench as Luis Diaz took his place.

Al-Hilal is the main Saudi club aiming to strike a deal with Liverpool for either Nunez or Salah. One of the two would likely replace Neymar, who suffered a season-ending injury in late 2024. It is not the first time Liverpool have been approached by a Saudi club in regards to acquiring Mo Salah: Al Ittihad made a big bid for the Egyptian star in August of 2023.

In addition to leading the Champions League, Liverpool also remain in contention for the League Cup and FA Cup. It is rare for a club to still be eligible to win 4 trophies this late into January. That being said, Liverpool will still be hungry to earn a victory this weekend, as they have drawn consecutive EPL matches. Amidst such a hectic schedule, a draw or worse to Brentford could easily snowball into a more precarious domestic situation if Arsenal pick up 6 points against Aston Villa and Wolves in their next couple of fixtures.

Brentford vs Liverpool Prediction: Free Liverpool Tips

Despite Slot’s style being more conservative than his German predecessor, Liverpool have scored more goals than any other club in the Premier League by a distant margin. And their ability to score on their travels is exceptional. My ratings have Liverpool’s away offense as 72% better than the average EPL away offense. In fact, Liverpool have scored 8 more goals on the road than they have at home (with 10 games apiece).

My projections indicate a total of 3.5 goals should be lined towards the over at a price of (-169). Looking at the current odds, one can get over 3.5 goals at (-110) on various online sportsbooks. I believe this is the best angle to attack from a betting perspective in this match.

Recent editions of this fixture at the Gtech have all gone over this mark. In their last 3 meetings in London, the scorelines between Brentford and Liverpool are as follows: 1-4, 3-1, and 3-3. We should see goals from both ends as Brentford are unlikely to be blanked at home, but will likely struggle to keep Liverpool’s attack contained. Therefore, my best bet is over 3.5 goals at (-108), available with BetOnline.
