EPL Picks: Who do Sportsbooks Favor?

Under Pep Guardiola, Manchester City is a slight favorite to win their seventh championship, but the Gunners will be a formidable opponent. At (+140) and (+175), respectively, the two are lined up. Liverpool (+650), who are about to embark on a new chapter under Arne Slot, is the group’s third wheel. Tottenham (+2800) and Manchester United (+2500). The remaining teams are all (+4000) or above.

English Premier League Preview: Man United

In what many called a nightmare season, Manchester United dropped a club record 14 games in the previous campaign. Every weekend it seemed like the team was underperforming and Erik ten Hag, the manager, had no say in the matter. However, United was getting closer to an FA Cup Final as time went on. They pulled off a stunning upset victory over Manchester City to win their first FA Cup since 2015–16 and maybe keep their manager in place.

For months, there had been rumors that ten Hag may be fired, and following the domestic cup victory, reports from prominent news outlets appeared to corroborate these rumors. Nevertheless, ten Hag signed an extension this summer and is still with Manchester United. Maybe the Red Devils thought his trophy win deserved a longer leash, or maybe there were no better options available to them. However, it might be the end of Hag’s days in Manchester after yet another domestic season like the previous ten.

Ten Hag, a survivor of Pep Guardiola’s coaching line, is well-versed in what it takes to triumph in major competitions. His first priority this season will probably be improving the defense, which had severe difficulties the previous season. In light of Maguire’s evident downturn and the absence of funding, I don’t think this team will turn things around this season. Considering that Manchester United defeated Fulham 1-0 to begin the season, take them under 64 points at (-120).

Why Everton Will Surprise in 2024-25: EPL Picks

After a difficult first season in command of Everton, former long-time center-back Sean Dyche saw his team finish 15th in the league. However, they lost six points as a result of their financial penalties, which contributed to their current position. Over the course of three years, no club is permitted to lose more than a particular amount. This provision is intended to create parity in the league by preventing cash-heavy owners from overspending on big-name players.

However, Everton’s on-field exploits demonstrated a great deal of promise, most notably in a 2-0 victory against Liverpool in the season’s final derby. Known for their conservative tactics, Dyche’s team would frequently use low blocks to outlast formidable opponents and produce results. With a restocked roster, an entire summer ahead of them, and no impending point deductions, Dyche has a great chance to play with more aggression.

A 3-0 loss to Brighton thus far does not encourage buying the Toffees. However, cutting-edge analytics show that this side is far more robust than previous findings have indicated. I think Dyche can get Everton back into the Premier League’s top 10. However, placing bets that are closer to 50/50 are better for long-term financial growth. Therefore, I’ll advise a complete unit wager on Everton with a total of 43 points.

Nottingham Forest to Improve Under Nuno

The Premier League previous season imposed financial sanctions on two clubs, the first of course being Everton and the second Nottingham Forest. Thankfully, the team did not receive a point deduction that would have resulted in relegation. With six points more than Luton Town at the end, the Tricky Trees secured their spot in the English soccer Premier League for a minimum of one additional year.

Nuno assumed leadership for Nottingham Forest at the close of the previous year. With seven victories in 27 games, the former Tottenham manager effectively led the team out of the relegation zone, making his arrival a welcome change. Although expectations are lower for such a small club and their predecessor did little to help their aspirations, supporters will hope he can bring a few more victories with less on the line. In fact, Steve Cooper lost eight of their first 11 games and only won two of them, putting Nuno in a survival scenario.

With the team performing more like a top-10 team and now totally committed to the Nuno train, there is optimism in the Nottingham Forest camp that they are “out of the woods.” But considering they led for over an hour, a 1-1 draw against Bournemouth to start the season was disappointing.

There are many reasons to believe Nottingham Forest will do better this season than they did the previous one, and very few to the contrary. I predict Nottingham Forest to achieve more than 38 points this season due to a lot of upside potential.
