This year, Canada, Jamaica, Panama, Mexico and Costa Rica will join the United States as representatives of CONCACAF in another 16-team edition of the Copa America. Bolivia has won this tournament before, yet the achievement was earned over 50 years ago, with only 7 teams involved. USA vs Bolivia Prediction: Who do Sportsbooks Favor?

The United States are massive favorites to cruise to victory Sunday night in Texas. A (-500) price tag shows the respect sportsbooks have for this still-young American side, or perhaps the disrespect Bolivia has gained after some poor performances in the last few years. La Verde are 14:1 underdogs. A draw can be bought at (+615).

USA Invited as Hosts of Copa America

Overreactions are a common theme of international friendlies, and they were widespread over the past week as USA played its scheduled matches Brazil and Colombia to prepare for this summer’s tournament. In fairness, the results were certainly polarizing, as the Stars & Stripes were slashed to pieces by a Colombian side in one of the most lopsided losses in American history. The 5-1 drubbing was mainly an effect of the USA’s inability to safely launch counter-attacks after dropping behind, leading to transition deficits that produced quality chances and good finishes. But what followed that loss was a magnificent 1-1 draw against Brazil.

Joe Scally was the highlight of that inspiring effort. The 21-year-old New Yorker plays for Borussia Monchengladbach, and was called up to start in place of the injured Sergino Dest. His performance offers a lot for American fans to be excited about. The defender locked up Vinicius Junior on the left wing, a Ballon d’Or candidate this year after effectively leading Real Madrid to Champions League and LaLiga titles.

Now invited to play in the Copa America as hosts, the USA have a chance to test their skills against different and higher-quality opponents compared to the typical cast they face year in and year out in CONCACAF affairs. In fact, if they are to advance out of the group stages, they will likely play Brazil or Colombia in the quarterfinals. Clearly they would rather face Brazil now, something many may not have said going into this summer.

Can Bolivia Win a Match, or Even Draw?

Bolivia’s great advantage is their elevation at La Paz, where they play the majority of their home matches. This extreme altitude is difficult to adjust to, leading to exhaustion from visiting sides. Because of this, most of Bolivia’s results come when they play on their home turf. But what they accomplish away from La Paz is a very different story.

Bolivia’s only win outside of their own country came in a 2-1 friendly win over Saudi Arabia back in March of 2023. Besides that, you would have to go back to November of 2021 to find another victory. In fact, they failed to even DRAW any of those away or neutral games.

Make no mistake, Bolivia is a far, far more inferior opponent than the United States. Their winless drought in competitive matches, as well as friendlies, points to their toothless nature. The United States should easily win this game by multiple goals, but the game lines clearly reflect this already.

USA vs Bolivia Prediction and Free Copa America Betting Pick

So how can we bet against a Bolivian side in this tournament? Opportunities abound in the futures markets, you can bet on Bolivia to not qualify, be the lowest scoring team in Copa America 2024, or to finish bottom of their group. That last option is the one I will direct you to consider. Bolivia is (-1750) to not qualify, essentially making that proposition unbeatable.

But to finish at the bottom of Group C, which consists of the USA, Uruguay, and Panama, is only (-150). These are much more digestible odds and offer a way to cut down those extremely short numbers in a strong group. They will very likely lose to the United States on Sunday as well as Uruguay. A draw against Panama is possible, but Panama has been a dark horse in several CONCACAF tournaments and have a better chance of limiting the scoring against their familiar American rivals.

Fade Bolivia in this group to finish bottom of the group with either no points or in a potential tie, where goal difference will come into play. These odds are simply too long for a team that in all honesty does not really belong in this tournament. I feel confident enough in this future to advocate a full unit play, as there are many possible routes to this bet hitting, and very few in which it does not.
