Jannik Sinner to win his second Australian Open title in 2025

  • Novak Djokovic (+175) is a slight favorite over Carlos Alcaraz (+200) to win the first major of 2025
  • Jannik Sinner (+250) has won the last two grand slams on hard court surfaces
  • The Australian Open will take place in Melbourne, Australia from January 12 to 26, 2025

With Roger Federer retired and Rafael Nadal with one foot out the door, two new young tennis stars have stepped up to challenge Novak Djokovic in the sunset of his career. Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz and Italy’s Jannik Sinner each captured two majors in 2024, stopping the 37-year-old Serbian from adding to his record 24 Grand Slam men’s singles titles.

Will Djokovic rebound in Melbourne this January? Before we check the latest betting odds on the 2025 Australian Open tennis tournament, here’s where you can find the best Tennis Betting Sites.

Djokovic favored over Alcaraz

Novak Djokovic (+175) may not have added to his record total (24) of Grand Slams in 2024, but he did achieve a career milestone in capturing Olympic gold in Paris. Already with a record ten Australian Open titles, the 37-year-old certainly knows how to win in Melbourne.

Carlos Alcaraz (+200) has already claimed four major championships in his young career, but he has never advanced past the quarter-finals down under. In fact, the 21-year-old Spaniard hasn’t won a hard-court grand slam since the 2022 US Open.

Sinner’s a winner

Jannik Sinner (+250) claimed his second-career Grand Slam title in New York City in September, becoming the first Italian man to ever win the U.S. Open. Wrapping up the 2024 tennis season with an impressive 55-5 win-loss record, the 23-year-old has made a case for himself as the best men’s tennis player in the world.

Medvedev has an outside shot

Daniil Medvedev (+700) took the first two sets off Sinner in last year’s Australian Open final before dropping the final three in agonizing fashion. The 28-year-old Russian also lost in the finals in Melbourne in 2021 to Djokovic and 2022 to Nadal.

Still eyeing his second-career major title, Medvedev was defeated by Sinner in four sets at this year’s US Open quarterfinals, so he’ll somehow need to find a way to get past his rival.

Best Longshot

Taylor Fritz (+4000) fell to Sinner in straight sets (6-3, 6-4, 7-5) in this year’s U.S. Open final, failing to end a 21-year U.S. men’s Grand Slam drought. However, the 26-year-old American is being severely underrated after advancing to the quarterfinals in four of the past five Grand SlamsWhile it will be tough to top Sinner, Djokovic and Alcaraz in Melbourne, a few upsets could clear his path.

Best Bet

Sinner has captured the past two hard-court majors, including the 2024 Australian Open, where he defeated Djokovic in the semi-final in four sets. We’ll take the reigning tournament champion and world No. 1 to claim his third-career major this January.
