Will this finally be the year when historic Missouri sports betting news will arrive? That’s what a lot of people are hoping for. In the past few months, the sports betting alliance, backed by the pro sports teams in the state, has made quite a bit of noise in the efforts. This spring, there was a deadline for a petition to be submitted with at least 170,000 people on board. Well, Missouri received more than 300,000 signatures for legal sports betting and the hype has reached a new level.
According to a report, at least 340,000 signatures were submitted, nearly double the necessary amount. This just goes to show you how fired up people in the state are about sports betting potentially making its way to the state either later this year or early next year. There’s been plenty of buzz about things getting done, but it remains to be seen if that will happen or not. Soon enough, though, the next steps will be taken. The local sports teams are excited about the progress too.
“We stand united with all of Missouri’s professional sports franchises in support of the campaign and believe that it is time for Missourians to have the opportunity to legalize responsible sports betting while generating tens of millions of dollars for our public schools each year,” Royals’ senior vice president Adam Sachs said in a statement recently.
Now, the belief is that the sports betting bill will make its way onto the ballot this fall, but things aren’t finalized just yet. Soon enough, though, the hope is that things will be made official and the bill will indeed be on the ballot for people to vote on. If that’s the case, then the expectation is that people in Missouri will vote for it to be passed. Only time will tell if this happens or not, but things sure are looking great for Missouri to have the laws changed sooner rather than later.

Will legal sports betting in Missouri arrive by the football season?
A question loads of people have on their minds is will legal sports betting in Missouri arrive by the football season? That’s a bit up in the air, but there’s a good chance it can happen. What we do now is that legal sports betting won’t be in operation at the start of things, as the NFL season will kick off in early September. However, with the ballot vote coming in November, there could be a quick turnaround, which would result in legal wagers being in place for the NFL postseason.
This would of course be massive, as the Kansas City Chiefs have the best Super Bowl betting odds heading into the new campaign. The Chiefs won the Super Bowl this past season, taking down the San Francisco 49ers in the big game. Patrick Mahomes is ready for a three-peat and so is Travis Kelce. No team has ever posted a three-peat in NFL history, but the Chiefs want to make it happen. Because of this, the NFL betting intrigue surrounding the team is already quite high.

Things won’t be easy for the Chiefs, though, as other teams have reloaded. Taking a look at the odds, other teams in the mix are the Eagles, Ravens, Bills, Cowboys, Packers and others. With the Ravens, they’re going to be out for revenge this upcoming season after they were the No. 1 seed, but they then lost to the Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game. Adding Derrick Henry will surely help their ground game.
Despite so many people hoping the Chiefs fail, including a lot of people in Baltimore, Mahomes remains the best quarterback in the game and nothing is going to change that in 2024. People in Missouri won’t be able to bet on him and the Chiefs when Week 1 is here, but come December or January, things could change. It will be interesting to see if that happens or not, but people in the state are feeling quite hopeful.
The Sports Betting Alliance is optimistic about sports betting
Another reason for excitement is the sports betting alliance is optimistic about sports betting. This alliance is made up of the pro teams in the state, which includes the Chiefs, Royals, Blues, Cardinals and others. The St. Louis Cardinals in particular have been a leader in the sports betting push among the pro teams, which has been great to see. This also should not be a surprise for anyone.
The Cardinals are one of the most historic MLB teams out there, as they have tons of World Series glory to their name. The Cardinals are hopeful that legal sports betting will be an option for their fans in the near future. After failed attempts in recent years, the feeling around sports betting sure has changed of late. This fall, we could see legal sports betting arrive and the sports betting alliance will play a large role in things.
